Background

Founded in 1962,   Universidad La Salle is among Mexico’s most innovative private universities, noted for the personal attention given to students, its traditional values and community spirit.  It is part of the worldwide network of Christian Brothers schools, which were begun in the 17th century   by   the French educator,  St.  John Baptist De La Salle.

Educational Mission

As the mission of our university is to contribute to the objective study and solution of the most pressing problems facing our country, all means possible will be employed to determine the cause of these problems and their possible solutions.  Man, however, is the focus of any project and his needs and aspirations should always be the priority. Illumined by these standards, Universidad La Salle strives to develop professionals, who are well-prepared in their area of expertise, convinced of their commitment to their country and fellowman, and with a great sense of responsibility and spirit of community service.

 

Size

 La Salle University has a student body of approximately 12,000 students. 

Location

La Salle University is centrally located within the heart of the trendy Colonia Condesa, which can be easily reached by subway, bus or taxi.   The area is a blend of attractive homes and apartments, quaint shops, galleries, discos, outdoor cafes and a great variety of restaurants. The traditional population of«La Condesa» now shares its activities with a growing number of artists, intellectuals, diplomats, executives and students. 

 

Facilities  and  Housing

Student–related services and facilities include multi-media libraries, computer centers with internet access, distance education with video conference and recording studios, cultural activities, social service, language courses, and international education center.  ULSA also offers students medical dispensaries, cafeterias and fully–equipped athletic facilities including gyms, swimming pool, weight room and ball courts. The university does not have housing on campus but can offer optional university-sponsored homestays and open listings of housing opportunities. 

Accreditation

Universidad La Salle is autonomous and has the accreditation of the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and the Federation of Private Mexican Universities (FIMPES).  It is a member of the Consortium of International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), the trilateral RAMP program, CREPUQ and CONASEP, in addition to belonging to the major national and international educational and professional associations.  

 

Undergraduate and Graduate Studies

With over  20 years of experience in graduate education, Universidad La Salle, Mexico currently offers  28 Undergraduate programs, 24 Specialties, 17 Graduate programs in Management,  Quality Control,  Organizational Health Management, Human Resources, Law, Management of Information Systems, Economic Engineering and Finance, Social Philosophy, Information Technology,  Education and International Business (double degree program with ICN, University of Nancy, France).   The University also has doctoral programs in Business and Education, as well as offering an intensive selection of internationally recognized specialties through its Medical School. 

 

Language Requirements

Students are required to have at least an intermediate level command of the Spanish language since both Undergraduate and Graduate course are given in Spanish.  Spanish language courses for non-native speakers are also available for those students who need to improve their language skills before entering the program. Some upper level academic courses are given in English each semester. Please contact the office of Academic Exchange for the current listing.

 

Activities

 La Salle University makes a concerted effort to include foreign students in all of its university activities.  In addition to encouraging them to join sports teams, cultural and student groups, the university also arranges academic placements in businesses, as well as social service placements in organizations and community development projects. Concerts, exhibitions, folk and modern dance, foreign language courses, guided tours, Intercollegiate sports, language and culture courses for non-natives speakers of Spanish, extra curricular arts courses, musical groups, religious groups, entrepreneurial groups, social service groups, community development projects, student government, model UN, leadership groups, student publications, theatre, and much more are available.
